Spring 2022

ClimbHI, a Hawai‘i workforce development nonprofi t, hosted its 10th annual Leadership, Exploration, Inspiration (LEI) hospitality industry program April 5 at the Hawai‘i Convention Center. Approximately 500 intermediate and high school attendees, college interns and college students enrolled in classes with curriculum relating to the program were expected to attend LEI’s fi rst in-person event since 2019.

The free event’s “Amazing Race”-style competition took students through multiple stations provided by participating Hawai‘i businesses that described the hospitality industry. Included were career highlights, resident sentiment, the importance of the visitor industry and Hawai‘i’s cultural values. A luncheon led by high-profile speakers was followed by a career fair.

O‘ahu’s LEI program kicked off LEI Maui on April 8, LEI Kaua‘i on April 14 and LEI Island of Hawai‘i on April 26 and 27. Hawai‘i businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate in LEI events, which are sponsored by the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority.
