The event helps school staff understand the evolving needs of local workplaces and provides them with the opportunity to connect with business leaders in West O‘ahu. It kicks off at Aliamanu Middle School with team building through an Aloha Spirit Lesson with ClimbHI and a STEM-focused activity with Pearl Harbor Shipyard. Site visits include the Four Seasons Resort O‘ahu at Ko Olina; Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa; and Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club. Supporting partners also include Ko Olina Resort and Polynesian Adventure charter buses.
“As early as elementary and middle school, our students are developing their career interests, and we work to help them understand the workforce opportunities, education and training available to them,” said Al Hetrick, Principal ofAliamanu Middle School.
In August 2025, ClimbHI partnered with King Kamehameha III Elementary School and Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa to host 40 teachers for the first-ever educator event on Maui. Over 50 teachers participated in a similar event at Waiau Elementary School on O‘ahu, followed by an islandwide event for over 500 teachers from the Hawai‘i State Department of Education Radford Complex in October 2025.
“By visiting with these West O‘ahu employers, Aliamanu Middle School staff can help our keiki prepare now as they develop their career goals and best meet local workforce needs and requirements upon graduation,” said Julie Morikawa, President of ClimbHI.
These educator events kick off yearlong involvement in ClimbHI programs such as Exposureships, Exposure Fairs, Hiring Blitzes, and LEI (Leadership, Exploration, Inspiration). Teachers can connect to these opportunities on the ClimbHI Bridge, an online portal that has reached over 6,000 educators and thousands of businesses and organizations.
Media are invited to attend; please RSVP by emailing jennifer@tlcpr.com.
