Braddahhood & Sistahhood Grindz Hosted a Speaker Series at Giovanni Pastrami!

Yesterday, we hosted our first Successful Speaker Series Offsite Event at Giovanni Pastrami, an initiative coined by Coach Rich Hill. The event brought together a mix of college and high school student-athletes and coaches for an afternoon of mentorship, learning, and connection.

In Attendance:

• UH Baseball – Entire team led by Head Coach Rich Hill
• UH Women’s Water Polo – Entire team led by Head Coach James Robinson
• Punahou School Women’s Water Polo – Entire team led by Head Coach Ken Smith (State Champions)
• Saint Louis School Division I Baseball – Entire team led by Head Coach Benny Agbayani(State Champions)
• Damien Division II Baseball – Entire team led by Head Coach Skyler Tengan (State Champions)

We were thrilled to welcome 135 attendees, with almost 100% comprised of coaches and student-athletes seated at tables and booths, while speakers and guests gathered around the bar. Thank you, Luther, for organizing the attendance of these high school teams.

Event Theme: “Making the Most of Your Four Years”

Emceed by David Kawada of ESPN Honolulu and AKA/Na Koa, the program featured an outstanding lineup of speakers who inspired student-athletes to translate lessons from the field and pool into lifelong success:

College and high school athletes were paired at tables for mentoring and discussion. David facilitated thoughtful dialogue, inviting select players to share their experiences on leaving their legacy and overcoming adversity.
